It’s a musical comedy of horrors

MANY would not expect to see the words ‘‘Frankenstein’’ and ‘‘comedy’’ used in the same sentence, but with Wingz Productions’ new show, The House of Frankenstein, the notorious monster takes on a new role.

Written by Martin Downing, the play sees Baron Victor von Frankenstein, played by Michael Griffin, become bored with his attempts to give life to the lifeless, and turn his attention and efforts to curing what is considered incurable.

The many situations that the baron faces are what makes this wisecracking comedy-horror a production to admire, director David W Owens says. ‘‘The production is unusual, and definitely not a run-of-the-mill type play,’’ he said. ‘‘The different levels of the production are what intrigued me most, with characters being involved in so many different circumstances.’’

Owens also said the character development would draw the audience in.

‘‘The relationships and interactions of the characters create so many different levels of interest and enjoyment,’’ he said.

With numerous dance numbers, Owens said the production aimed to give life to the theatrical audiences of the community.

The show dates are September 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 8pm, with a 2pm session on September 8 at Town Hall Theatre, Campbelltown.

Tickets are $23 and concessions are $18, with a 10 per cent discount for group bookings of 10 or more.
